An Artist's Impression
During His brief time on earth, Jesus taught, worked miracles, suffered, died, and rose from the dead.
No one knows exactly what He looked like, but artists throughout the centuries have provided us with their view of Jesus the Man, and some of the events of His life.
Michael Angelo was one such artist. Famed for wonderful paintings, such as seen on the ceilings of the Sistine Chapel. He meditated deeply on the central mysteries of the Christian faith and gave the most profound and moving expression to his thoughts in a series of simple drawings of the Crucifixion.
Jesus’ Crucifixion is still the main theme of the Gospel message today.
And He, bearing His cross, went out to a place called the Place of a Skull, which is called in Hebrew, Golgotha, where they crucified Him, and two others with Him, one on either side, and Jesus in the centre.
(John 19: 17-18)
We may not see Jesus’ face in this life, but He promises all who trust in Him, that we will see Him when we are with Him - and we will be Like Him.
