Unexpected Visitors
by Sue
Albert liked to totter
Around his little flat
He loved his tea and biscuits
And adored his little cat.
But sometimes he got lonely
A friendly face would do him good
He needed a friend to talk to
As any person would.
Albert longed to entertain visitors
That had a listening ear!
He would even entertain angels
If God sent them, Albert was sincere
Then one day it happened
When Albert was having forty winks
He felt a presence in the room and awoke
On the table were biscuits and a drink!
Albert had been startled
By the rattling of the cups
A woman was in the kitchen
Doing his washing up.
Well, Albert was surprised
"Are you an angel in disguise?"
She smiled at him and replied "maybe"
He invited her to stay and have some tea.
She said his door was open
As she looked to see what she could see
There sitting on Albert's lap
His little cat, purring contentedly!
Then friends came from his local church
Who knew of Albert's need
And they offered up some prayer
For God is in the midst of them, when two or three are there.
Albert's prayers were answered
By our God upon His throne
And from that day on God's faithful servants
Made visits to his home.
So let brotherly love continue
Not just Sunday - but all year through
And God will shower blessings
Upon all His works you do.
Secret Love
by Sue
On a smoky platform
Where a steam train waits
A young romantic couple
Wait beside the platform gate.
They hand the guard their tickets
Which he then proceeds to ‘clip’
And they walk away, arm in arm
With lovers' gentle skip
The lovers board the train
And close the door behind
So much in love, they know for sure
When ‘they’ say love is blind
They kiss and sit with hands held tight
Behind the doors, now out of sight
Kept out of view from public eye
Their ‘secret’ love will soar and fly
And Jesus knows their secret
As much as He does yours
You see there is nothing hidden
From the Saviour, that’s for sure,
He knows your hidden secrets
Of which you are not proud
But Jesus won’t ‘shout it from the rooftops’
Like the public would, out loud
No. Jesus knows the thoughts and intents
Of every heart and soul and mind
And Jesus is a trusted Friend
Whose gentle, love you’ll find.
Everyone needs the love of Jesus
A love they seek in friends
But friends can be unreliable
And sometimes selfish to the end
Jesus will not depart from you
For Jesus, yes, His love is true
He will love you till the end
In spite of all the things you do
For Jesus is a trusted Friend
One on whom you can depend
Jesus will not be your ‘secret’ love
God’s love is sent from heaven above
Borrowed and Paid in Full
by Sue
Jesus was born in a borrowed stable
And He taught from a borrowed boat,
He fed 5000 people with
Borrowed fish and loaves.
Jesus borrowed the home of Mary and Martha
To rest his weary head
He rode into Jerusalem on a borrowed donkey
Where he would face His death.
Jesus celebrated the last supper
In a borrowed room
He borrowed a stranger’s strength to carry His cross
And was buried in a borrowed tomb
Our Lord came to give all that he had
For the sake of all mankind,
To free us from sin and death
That blinds our eyes and minds
But now let us consider
When we think we are not blessed
That Jesus possessed nothing
Except His sinless self
He left His Throne in heaven
For our sin, to pay the price
By His death and resurrection
We can now know eternal life.
The Jumble at the Bottom of my Wardrobe
by Malc
I've tried to clear it out before
but it keeps on coming back,
it seems to come from high "up there"
and slips through every crack.
It should be hanging tidily
upon the long straight rail
but crumpled lies like sin confessed
when once again I fail.
The hangers are designed to make
the fitting of my shirts
seem nice and neat, shoulders strong
but merely cover hurts.
The wardrobe door is really like
the door into my life
It hides the things best not seen
(except, of course, my wife).
But when God finally tidies up
the wardrobe of my soul
I'll be complete, hanging neat and
clean and pressed and whole.
A quiet voice, of gentleness,
Softly speaks my name.
"How are you my child?"
He speaks it once again.
His love comes softly to me
Instilled within my heart
My Lord, my master, and my friend
We'll never be apart.
He also is my Comforter,
Who comforts, in my grief.
Without the comfort of my Lord
I cannot begin to live.
His love comes softly to me
When at night I hear Him say:
"Come, dear child, come to me now"
I then begin to pray.
My heavenly father is right there,
And listens when I pray;
His love comes softly to me
Throughout each passing day!
Love Comes Softly
by Sue
Do not fear my child
When troubles do assail,
For I am your Comforter
And I will never fail.
"I'll be there right beside you
Just trust and follow me";
His love comes softly to me
And His sweet face I can see.
His love comes softly to me,
There is nothing left to fear;
For my Lord, My God, my Comforter
Will wipe away my tear!
If you need a comforter,
Who you can call your friend
I recommend a faithful One
On whom you can depend.
Love comes softly to you
You will hear His gentle best,
"Come unto me you weary
And I will give you rest!"
I'm Special
by Sue
I live in a large house
In a town, with all my friends
We enjoy going to our day centre on the bus
But I find it hard to join in the games
So mostly I sit and watch
I like to laugh - but I also cry
I have feelings just like you
My carers are loving, giving, and kind
They understand what’s on my mind
They are there to help me bath and to help me get dressed
I am truly grateful to them - and also very blessed.
If I could tell God how much I love them
This is what I’d say:
"Thank You Jesus, for the people here
And thank You too, for working through those people
Who work so hard and care
For me and for my friends, that also live here
I love You Jesus, you are my helper and my guide
And thank You Lord for You are ever by my side"
I pray for people in foreign lands
That they will come to understand
That those who are special will one day all be changed
When Jesus comes back again reign.
We will have new bodies - and all the Saints will too
For Jesus said that’s one of the things that He will surely do
A new body, a new mind
And new eyes for those who are blind
New tongues for those who cannot talk
New legs for those who cannot walk
New ears for those who cannot hear
And God will wipe away each tear
New strength for those who are weak
A place in God’s Kingdom’s for those that seek
The list goes on what God will do
For he loves me as much as He loves you.
God is Love
