When Darryl and Vikki first got together, we were very pleased, as they seemed to have much in common including snooker which was how they met each other. Before long, they were dating and started to rent a flat locally. After being together for a couple of years their first child Leo, was on the way and things seemed fine and dandy. But then a crisis happened, and things started to go from bad to worse and Vikki and Leo came to our house to stay one Friday night.

I had planned to go to a ladies’ breakfast the next day at our church as a lady named Sheila, the Baptist Union’s Area Superintendant was going to speak so I asked Vikki if she would like to come along. It was approaching Easter, and Sheila was invited to preach on what Easter really meant, so I thought I should ask Vikki if she would like to come with me.

Malc said that he would look after Leo and would drop Vikki and me off at the church on the Saturday morning. So we both went and enjoyed a wonderful breakfast and were each given a flower to pin onto our blouses or jumpers.

The men of the church waited on us, serving coffee and teas, and the tables were filled with croissants, cereals, yoghurts, toast, and all manner of other delicious food so we ate a hearty breakfast.

Vikki started to relax as Sheila went to the front and introduced herself and began to preach on what Easter was really all about. She spoke of Jesus’ death and resurrection of how the death of Jesus was sufficient to pay the price for all sin. She spoke of how he suffered and died upon the cross and went into depth and detail about the pain and suffering that our dear Lord suffered on that cross – because He loves us so much.

I was blown away with her message, and I looked across at Vikki and she was taking it all in and starting to realise her own need of the Saviour. That very morning she repented of her sin. She told me afterwards, that she had invited Jesus into her heart and life.

Malc and I rejoiced with Vikki when he came to pick us up after the breakfast and happily was able to confirm that Leo had been a good boy and that Matthew had been good as well.

Vikki didn’t have a Bible at home and so we went out and bought her one, and she has trusted the Lord ever since. Darryl and Vikki went on to have a daughter named Isabelle and though sadly they are now separated, they actually get on better than when they were together. Of course they are now both in the Lord’s family.

We now have four beautiful grandchildren - Jack and Molly (our daughter’s children) plus Leo and Isabelle. What the Lord has done for our family is incredible and we give the Lord all the thanks and praise. All of our grandchildren have bibles and are trusting Jesus their Saviour and Lord.
