A Gift from God

Things are special when the Lord is in control of our lives.
The first time I heard of the singer Matt Monroe my family and I were at my dad’s friend Derek’s cottage. His daughter would play Matt Monroe’s songs. I liked his voice and his songs - but I also liked the name, Matt. When our first son was born, we called him Matthew and sometimes we call him, Matt.
The name Matthew has a wonderful meaning - ‘Gift of God.’ And our Matthew was certainly a gift from God to us as a family. A very special gift.
Although Matthew has learning difficulties he was used as an instrument in God’s plan for our family. At the time appointed for us, we all came to know Jesus as Lord and Saviour. Malc, when he took Matthew forward at a church meeting when all were invited to come forward for healing. The Lord spoke to Malc’s heart that night and he got saved, as did a little later, our other two children. I had already been saved, after I had heard the gospel from a friend, and had been praying for the whole family.
In Matthew 6:33-34 it says:
“But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.”
And in Jeremiah 29:11 it says
“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.”
