Which Way?
Have you ever taken a wrong turn - a wrong direction?
Have you ever thought about the direction your life is taking?
We all think about what we are planning to do most days. First getting up out of bed, getting washed and dressed, having breakfast, and rushing out of the front door to get into the car to head for work. But getting caught up in a traffic jam because of road works or maybe a road traffic accident and having to change direction – we are late into work.
Then the whole same old routine replays in the evening. We get back home, we eat, watch TV and then to bed and the next day - start all over again. Life can be dull and ‘repetitive’ sometimes but when we have something different to look forward to – then the time flies past. A party, a holiday perhaps, but it comes and it goes just as quickly.
So, what next?
Just like this life, our eternal life also needs a plan and a direction. Without one we are subject to a bleak – in fact, a desperately dreadful eternal future. And eternal means eternal - it will never end. Because we were created to have fellowship with our Creator God, if we choose to ignore or refuse this fellowship in favour of focusing only on this life, and satisfying ourselves with the pleasures this life offers, we will miss the chance to know eternal salvation and a home in heaven. The alternative is hell.
Our sin - all that we selfishly do, say or think, separates us from a sinless, merciful, and loving God. But God gave His only begotten Son Jesus, to pay the price for our sin.
Jesus died on the Cross and rose again from the dead because death had no hold on Him so that we can repent of our sin, find forgiveness at the cross and come to know Jesus – who is the Way, the Truth, and the Life – so that we may find the Way, know the Truth and have Life eternal.
This change of direction from the road we are taking to eternal destruction will get us on the road that leads to a life full of joy and peace, and the assurance that we will get to the right destination and everlasting joy and security.
