How does the Story End?
This story is about a man for whom all the years of hs life, he had been anything but happy. Indeed, life held so little for him that he made up his mind to end it all, by jumping from a bridge into a river which flowed through the city.
He started out on his last, lonely walk - and as he strode on, he said to himself
“If I should meet just one, happy-looking person before I get there, I will change my mind and go on living.” And that’s the end of the story.
But the question that remains for every one of us, is simply this - suppose that man, on that day, were to have met me or met you, would he have turned back - or walked on? Would we have had the smile that made the difference to him?
If Jesus is Lord and Saviour, and lives in our heart - we have more than a smile to give. We have the Good News of salvation in Jesus - the forgiveness of sin and eternal life. The man in our story had none of these and some reading this right now, might have none of these.
But let this opportunity be the right time for you to see the one person who can return more than just a smile in order to turn you around. The One who can bring you His peace, His joy and His promise of life eternal – right now.
