The story is told of a man about to leave home and embark on a journey and what at first seemed a simple prayer, would create a big change and challenge for the pilgrim.

As he set off on his journey, an assurance entered deep into his heart. It warmed his heart with sweetness and with effortless delight, and he began to pray: “Lord Jesus Christ, have mercy on me, a sinner.” He started to sing and then he prayed over and over, the prayer which Jesus had planted in his heart.

Humility always finds favour with God and God is pleased to use hearts like this humble heart to reach others. Over many years the man was transformed from a reclusive man to a Joyful and loving pilgrim. God healed all his hurts and gave him a new lease of life, after he had previously endured stressful and disastrous times. This new life started to flow through him to bless and heal - and not Just himself, but for many other people.  Those who knew him saw a changed man – those who did know him, found him a generous and kind man. He blessed many and brought God’s healing love to all he met. He went about walking in the countryside and stopping off at small towns always carrying and holding his bible in hand touching the lives of all he met with love and affection, just as Jesus did.

His life brought many, new hope, and a new future ahead of them.

“And now, Lord, look upon their threats and grant to your servants to continue to speak your word with all boldness, while you stretch out your hand to heal, and signs and wonders are performed through the name of your holy servant Jesus.” (Acts 4:29,30)

In humility, we can pray and ask the Lord Jesus for His forgiveness and His hand on our lives to change us and to use us for His glory.
