There he was, standing on the branch looking down at the roaring waterfall beneath... without a care in the world! 

Fortunately, not a person but a bird - a picture of perfect peace. A small bird perched on a slender branch overhanging a roaring waterfall below. But the bird has no cause to be afraid, because it puts its trust in the fact that it has been blessed with wings and can take flight to freedom at any time. 

As people we, too can have perfect peace, as we put our trust in the Lord Jesus Christ who protects, guides, leads, and who loves us with a love that is enduring and unfailing. 

No matter how delicate our situations might be, no matter how the storms of life rage around us, we are not alone. And even if we are burdened down with a load of care, just as that great hymn says: “On Christ the Solid Rock I stand, all other ground is sinking sand.” 

We too, can stand unconcerned about the ragings below us or all around us. We too, can take flight into the arms of the Saviour and find perfect rest and perfect peace in Jesus. 

“You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you.” 
(Isaiah 26:3)
