Facing The Giants
He was so big that no one wanted to take him on. He was a giant of a man - surely, he would win any fight ...
What giants are you facing? The giant of fear, joblessness, homelessness, broken relationships, family conflict?
Or maybe the giant of peer pressure? Or perhaps there are different ideologies and philosophies fighting for control of your life? What about giants like social injustice, moral deterioration, or crime?
When David went out to face the giant Goliath in battle, Goliath had David out-armed and out-experienced (not to mention the fact that he was probably at least, one and a half times the height of David). Goliath was also a great warrior and he carried a huge spear and an enormous shield; David was a youth and a shepherd and his weapons were a slingshot – and a deep dependence on God.
And God gave David the victory.
We all face giants in our lives. We all encounter those difficulties that seem impossible to overcome, but God sent His only begotten Son Jesus Christ to help you face yours – if you will let Him.
David said to the Philistine, “You come against me with sword and spear and Javelin, but I come against you in the name of the Lord.” 1 Samuel 17:45
Whenever you face a giant that opposes you - come fully armed. Face them with the help of the Lord – and let Him fight for you.
He will give you the victory.
