God is Love Indeed
In these strange days, in which we live, we hear constantly about groups of people deciding they are able to know the rights and wrongs of the world.
Sadly, we will never get it right because we only have each other to compare ourselves with. Imperfect people, who judge themselves against other imperfect people.
And we are all imperfect.
Some, disregard the way God calls us to live, thinking they know better and that God is too judging of our actions. Worse still, others have made a 'god' of their own creation that is so loving and non-judgmental that he would never do anything but love everybody - with no regard to their behaviour, good or bad.
The danger is that to do this, is to turn away from the true God who DOES love all, but who cannot tolerate sin.
To follow after a god of our own design is a dangerous path to take and will lead to our own destructive end.
Look at how the late Billy Graham put it:
Imagine what the world would be like if God were only a God of love, who never judged evil or tried to stop it. Evil men could carry on their plans without fear. They would never have to worry that God would judge them or try to stop them.
Now imagine what the world would be like if God were only a God of judgment, who punished us every time we did wrong. If God were like that, none of us would have a chance, for we sin every day. Sometimes, however, God does correct us and discipline us - not because He hates us, but because He loves us and wants us to turn from the destructive path we are on.
Turn to the only true God and rest in His great promise of love for us.
The Lord is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger. (Psalm 145:8)
