Late Bloomers
We don’t all get off to the best of starts - but that should never define us, or hold us back from growing, improving and doing well.
The future author, Walter Scott was described by one of his teachers as a hopeless dunce.
Louis Pasteur was the slowest learner in his chemistry class.
Thomas Edison was pronounced ‘stupid’ and sent home in disgrace.
Winston Churchill was expelled from his Latin class.
Today, their names live on, whilst most of their fellow pupils and their teachers are not remembered and possibly, the moral of this could be don’t write off a flower before it has had time to bloom.
But although these men might have had a change of attitudes or of their ways, before they became, what this world sees as ‘good men’ none could stand by their own goodness before God.
Surely there is not a righteous man on earth who does good and never sins.
(Ecclesiastes 7:20)
Does this mean that we have no real hope of being considered good enough by God?
Absolutely not! And God shows us what He requires of us.
He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?
(Micah 6:8)
For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, whom God put forward as a propitiation by his blood, to be received by faith. This was to show God's righteousness, because in his divine forbearance he had passed over former sins.

He has shown us how He accomplishes goodness in us. By the free gift of His Son - the Lord Jesus Christ, who alone is good.
