Promises, promises
How often do we accept people’s promises – but with ‘a pinch of salt' ? Sadly our experience teaches us that even friends may promise something one day, and then change their minds the next.
But It’s exciting to realise that Jesus Christ is “the same yesterday and today and forever.“ (Hebrews 13:8) which means that the promises He made when He was here on earth, two thousand years ago are still valid today. Here are some of those promises for you to think about:
“He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.” (John 3:36)
If you put your faith in Jesus Christ you can know for certain that you have eternal life because Jesus promised it! On the other hand, if you reject His offer of forgiveness of sins and His offer of eternal life, you can be just as sure that you will face God’s judgement.
“All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will by no means cast out.“ (John 6:37)
Many people hesitate to come to God, perhaps because they are all too aware of their unworthiness. But this verse reminds us that Jesus has promised to receive all who come to Him in faith. You can come – just as you are.
“In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.” (John 14:2)
Jesus made this promise to His disciples – and it is just as true today for all those who follow Him. If you are trusting in Jesus for eternal life there is a place in heaven prepared for You!
