The Colour Green

Going back a good number of years, we needed a new carpet for the lounge of our house, as the existing carpet really had seen better days. Malc and I had planned to go and look at carpets at the weekend, so when Saturday came, we got ourselves ready and walked into town to our local carpet shop.
A young salesman came over and we asked him if he could show us some green carpets. We had decided that the calming colour green would suit that particular room in our house. The young man showed us the range of green carpets they had in the shop and after a while we found one we both liked, gave the salesman the relevant sizes, and placed our order.
We arrived back home, pleased with our choice and pleased with ourselves that we had found one we liked so quickly. We soon did not feel quite so pleased with ourselves as we realised how we were both dressed. They do say that over time, husband and wife start to speak, behave, and even dress alike. Well, we had definitely done the latter that day!
We realised that I was wearing green corduroy trousers and Malc was in green coloured jeans. Worse than that we both were wearing green pullovers. OK different shades, but both very green. And then it dawned on us that we were just in the carpet shop ordering a green carpet - wearing all green clothing!
The young salesman must have had a chuckle to himself selling 'Mr and Mrs Green’ (not our real name, of course) a new green carpet. We certainly had a good laugh about it.
In the Bible, the colour green often signifies fruitfulness in the form of the green herb and grass. God furnishes His children (Christians) with everything they need for their spiritual fruitfulness and the trust and confidence that His children place in him will bear fruit.
Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, and whose hope is the Lord. (Jeremiah 17:7)
