You have almost certainly heard of or read about Harry Houdini, the man who always escaped?

They would bind him with cords or load him with chains - and he would free himself in a twinkling of an eye. How did he do it?

We don’t know his secrets - they died with him. But one thing he said was: “Early in life, I learned to conquer fear.“ That was it! When he could not slip off the handcuffs easily, under water, he didn’t get in a panic but kept a firm hold on himself and kept on, however great the effort… and won through.

These are hard and dangerous days in which we are living – the past few years have been difficult for many and the Bible is clear that there are days to come which will only get worse.

But if we have Jesus in our lives, then like Houdini, we are able to conquer fear if as we put our faith and trust in Him, for this coming New Year and for all eternity.

Let’s not just escape from this world and the overwhelming fear it can bring, but let us escape to where we can find peace and joy and love.

Jesus said in John 10:9
I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved and will go in and out and find pasture.
