The Humble Queen
Queen Victoria would sometimes go into the slums of London to visit someone. One day she went into a home to have tea with an older woman. When she rose to leave, the queen asked, “Is there anything I can do for you?”
The woman said, “Yes, Your Majesty. You can meet me in Heaven.”
The queen turned to her and said softly, “Yes. I’ll be there, but only because of the blood that was shed on the cross for you and for me.”
Queen Victoria, in her day the most powerful woman in the world, had to depend on the blood of Christ for her salvation. And so do we.
"Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father." (Philippians 2:9-11)
