The trumpet has been around for thousands of years and is known for its bright, powerful sound and its versatility as an instrument that has been a staple in classical music, jazz, pop, rock and many other genres.

Some of the more famous trumpet players includes Louis Armstrong, Miles Davis, Dizzy Gillespie and Wynton Marsalis. Learning to play the trumpet can be challenging especially in the higher registers, but with proper instructions and regular practice, anyone can become proficient.

Its origins can be traced back to ancient civilisations such as Egypt and Rome where it was used for ceremonial purposes, military signals and as a symbol of celebration and of proclamation.

Time is running out. Soon the trumpet of the greatest proclamation of all time will sound for those who belong to the Lord and who will spend eternity with Him. All believers – Christians, will hear the trumpet sound but not unbelievers.

For this we declare to you by a word from the Lord, that we who are alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will not precede those who have fallen asleep. 

For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first.

Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord.

Therefore encourage one another with these words.
(1 Thessalonians 4:15-18)

Behold! I tell you a mystery. We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead (in Christ) will be raised imperishable, and we shall be changed.
For this perishable body must put on the imperishable, and this mortal body must put on immortality.
When the perishable puts on the imperishable, and the mortal puts on immortality, then shall come to pass the saying that is written:

“Death is swallowed up in victory.
O death, where is your victory?
O death, where is your sting?”

The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law.
But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
(1 Corinthians 15:51-57)
