Truth rather than Life.
A 17-year-old girl became the queen of England for just nine days.
But then her cousin Mary, raised up an army to depose her from the throne, arrested her and sentenced her to death.
Mary gave this girl one chance to live if only she would renounce her Christianity.
Mary sent an apologist to convince her to do this.
He told her that salvation was by both works and faith.
The girl said: "No. Salvation is by faith alone."
He said: "The bread and the wine are the very body and blood of Jesus."
The girl said: "No. They symbolize Jesus' saving work."
He said: "The church has authority alongside the Bible."
The girl said: "No. The church sits under the piercing gaze of God's Word."
He said: "I'm sure we two shall never meet again."
The girl answered: "Truth it is, that we shall never meet again - unless God turns your heart."
The girl was executed on February 12th 1554. Her name was Lady Jane Gray.
A short reign on this earth but now reigning in heaven with her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.
