Two Kinds of People

A Long time ago, somebody said there were two kinds of people. And how right they were.

Tall people and short people, right?   No.

Oh, people with long hair and people with short hair, right?   Nope!

Since time immemorial there have been rich and poor, good and bad, old and young and so on. But the wise man whose words these were went on to say “There are two kinds of people: those who wear badly and those who wear well.”

The first type are people who wear badly. They usually begin by making a good first impression. They are so pleasant and ready to flatter, and eager to help. But through time, you may find them just not as wonderful as you were led to believe.

The second type are people who at first, are perhaps a bit too quiet, anything but fascinating or amusing and certainly never showy…  But as time goes on you discover that they mean what they say, they lend a hand, and you can depend upon them.

The first wear badly. The others wear well. To which group would you prefer to belong?

Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves. You will recognise them by their fruits. Are grapes gathered from thorn bushes, or figs from thistles? So, every healthy tree bears good fruit, but the diseased tree bears bad fruit. A healthy tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a diseased tree bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Thus you will recognise them by their fruits.  (Matthew 7:15-20)
