Wakey, Wakey!

It’s about time we . . . . .
No, not just to get out of bed. No, not to just start another day. But it’s about time we realise exactly where each day is taking us.
Time has a way of running out quickly. Days turn into weeks, weeks into months, and months into years. In the end, time itself will run out. It makes little difference what we do to try and put off that inevitable fact.
Your life, my life – all of our lives – have a limited length. The Bible says “The days of our years are three score years and ten.” (Psalm 90:10) and speaks of life as “a vapour that appears for a little time and then vanishes away.” (James 4:14)
It is not possible for any of us - politicians, scientists, doctors, or theologians to alter these facts.
When I was a young child, Sundays were always the same. Getting up out of bed a bit later in the morning, having a delicious Sunday roast lunch, and listening on the radio to The Billy Cotton Band Show. He always started his show with the cry: “Wakey Wake-oh!” Lots of families did exactly the same thing in those days – and every week the same. My husband and his family had the same routine on Sundays in his house.
People are keen to follow traditional things and even to follow one another, but we need to remember – we need to be saved and tradition cannot save us and nor can friends or neighbours. What do I mean by being saved? It is when we are saved from going to a Christless and lost eternity – hell. Only Jesus can save us from that.
It’s why Jesus came to this earth as a baby and grew to be the only sinless man, it’s why He willingly died on the cross to pay the penalty for sin – yours, mine, and the whole world’s and it’s why it’s about time we woke up out of our sleep!
So Wakey, wakey! Hear the call of Jesus, respond to Him and let Him save you from hell and give you instead an eternity of love, peace, and joy in heaven.
