New Roofs and all that Jazz
I read about the legendary Jazzman Kenny Ball, who took a trip down memory lane, when one time he returned to his old primary school for the first time after 62 years. The Essex-born musician choked back tears as he walked through the doors of his old school, in Goodmayes Lane in Ilford.
It’s funny how memories stir us sometimes. Happy, sad – all kinds of memories can have an effect upon us.
Reading that story brought to my mind the time, going way back into the eighties, when my husband’s brother, Andy, who was a roofer, received a call from somebody that needed their roof fixed. The customer was Kenny Ball.
So, Andy went along to meet Kenny at his Essex home and after talking through the problems he had with the roof, Kenny decided to have the whole roof re-tiled, rather than patch it up, and Andy got the job!
Kenny was a great musician – and Andy was a great roofer. At the end of the job, they were both pleased with how the whole thing turned out.
Kenny passed away in 2013 and Andy just a couple of years after that. Both men were good at what they did for a living and both are remembered fondly by those that loved them. Kenny for his music, Andy for his roofing, and his football. Malc played centre-half in front of Andy, in goal, for a number of teams for many years.
I have no idea if Kenny ever came to know Jesus, but happily Andy certainly did, as one day . The Lord used me to speak to Andy about Jesus, a couple of years before this time and Andy accepted Jesus as his Saviour and Lord.
There is time and opportunity for all to be saved. Don’t miss your opportunity to be able to say for certain that at the end of your life that you have the absolute confidence that you will spend eternity with Jesus.
"O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?"
